Recurrent microblazar activity in Cygnus X-1?

چکیده
Recurrent flaring events at Xand soft gamma-ray energies have been recently reported for the galactic black hole candidate Cygnus X-1. The observed fluxes during these transient outbursts are far higher than what is observed in “normal” episodes. Here we suggest that the origin of this radiation is non-thermal and produced by inverse Compton interactions between relativistic electrons in the jet and external photon fields, with a dominant contribution from the companion star field. The recurrent and relatively rapid variability could be explained by the precession of the jet, which results in a variable Doppler amplification.

متن کاملObservations of microquasars with the MAGIC telescope
We report on the results from the observations in very high energy band (VHE, Eγ ≥ 100 GeV) of the black hole X-ray binary (BHXB) Cygnus X-1. The observations were performed with the MAGIC telescope, for a total of 40 hours during 26 nights, spanning the period between June and November 2006. We report on the results of the searches for steady and variable γ-ray signals, including the first exp...

We improve the method proposed by Yao et al (2003) to resolve the X-ray dust scattering halos of point sources. Using this method we re-analyze the Cygnus X-1 data observed with Chandra (ObsID 1511) and derive the halo radial profile in different energy bands and the fractional halo intensity (FHI) as I(E) = 0.402×E keV. We also apply the method to the Cygnus X-3 data (Chandra ObsID 425) and de...
متن کاملThe Cygnus X Region: a Nucleosynthesis Laboratory for Integral
The detection of 1.809 MeV gamma-ray line emission from the Cygnus X complex by the COMPTEL telescope is one of the most convincing proves of massive star nucleosynthesis in our Galaxy. The Cygnus X complex is an extremely active nearby region, containing several star forming regions, OB associations and young open star clusters. It houses some of the most massive stars known in our Galaxy and ...
